The European season is in full swing with a number of U.S. youth players in action over the past week with players scoring or assisting goals in a few different countries. TopDrawerSoccer highlights some of the best in play from the past two weeks. 

Staying Hot

Konrad de la Fuente continued his hot streak with a goal in FC Barcelona Juvenil B’s 4-0 win over Girona over the weekend. The U.S. Youth National Team winger headed in the third goal of the game in the victory. De la Fuente has been a standout for the FC Barcelona youth team this season with a consistent goal scoring record and contributions in key moments through the early part of the season.

In the Nick of Time 

Nicholas Taitague rose to the occasion for Schalke 04 over the weekend with an assist in the win over Dusseldorf. Taitague also drew a foul in the box for a penalty kick in the 3-1 win over Fortuna Dusseldorf. 

The U.S. U20 Men’s National Team attacker showed over his skills as he evaded defenders in tight spaces to set up the two goals for Schalke 04 in the win on Sunday. Fortuna Dusseldorf was previously unbeaten on the season before the game. Schalke 04 sits in fifth in the table with 10 points from four games. 

Debut 

Joshua Perez made his debut for AS Livorno last week in the Serie C. Perez came on for the final nine minutes in the 1-1 draw against AC Prato on Sept. 3. After joining the club only a few days before, it was a positive sign that Perez earned some minutes in his first game with the club. He will look for a bigger role with the squad this week when AS Livorno takes on US Alesssandria on Friday. 

Perez is on loan with Livorno for the rest of the season. The 19-year-old is under contract with ACF Fiorentina. 

Winner, winner

U.S. U17 Men’s National Team winger Timothy Weah scored the game-winner for PSG in the UEFA Youth League against Celtic on Tuesday. Weah scored in the 66th minute to give PSG the 3-2 edge. Weah played 81 minutes on the day. PSG will also play Anderlecht and Bayern Munich in UEFA Youth League Group B play.
